New Orleans and the Allstate Sugar Bowl have won the bid for the new
Champions Bowl, selected over the A&T Cotton Bowl Classic in
Arlington, sources confirmed Tuesday afternoon.
The Champions Bowl will match the winners of the Southeastern
Conference and the Big 12, who made the final decision. By winning the
bid, the Sugar Bowl also becomes part of the semifinal rotation for the
four-team college football playoff coming after the 2014 season. The
Rose and FedEx Orange are also guaranteed spots in what will be a six-
or seven-bowl rotation.
